The Celtic Foundation teams up with Down’s Syndrome Scotland
The ‘Ability Counts’ programme
The Celtic Foundation is working in partnership with Down’s Syndrome Scotland to produce an exciting football coaching courses. Down’s Syndrome Scotland works to improve the quality of life for everyone in Scotland with Down’s syndrome and their families. They work to help people with Down’s syndrome reach their full potential by providing information and support to them, their families, carers and professionals.
Celtic is supplying the coaching staff for its ‘Ability Counts’ programme to make a contribution to the health and fitness of boys and girls aged 5 to 16 in the first instance.
Head of Celtic Foundation, Robert Docherty says: “The Celtic Foundation is delighted to be working alongside Down's Syndrome Scotland to give young people with Down's Syndrome an opportunity to play football in a fun but challenging environment. I'm sure the 'Ability Counts’ programme will continue to make a positive difference to those who attend.”

Pandora Summerfield, Chief Executive, Down’s Syndrome Scotland said: “We are delighted that Celtic is working with us in the football section of our Down’s Syndrome Sports initiative. Down’s Syndrome Sports aims to promote an active, healthy lifestyle for children and young people with DS.
