Thursday 1st March 2012: Celtic Charity Fund Sporting Dinner
The 2012 Celtic Charity Fund Annual Sporting Dinner will be held in the Kerrydale Suite at Celtic Park on Thursday 1st March, 7 for 7.30pm. Celtic Directors, Management, first-team players and backroom staff will be in attendance and the evening will include a fabulous four-course meal, live after-dinner entertainment and a charity auction and raffle hosted by Andy Cameron.
This year’s principal beneficiary is The British Heart Foundation Scotland. The nation’s heart charity has been saving lives by funding cutting edge research for 50 years. Right now, the human heart cannot heal itself, so once your heart ‘breaks’, it stays that way. In Scotland over a quarter of a million people are living with heart disease. To celebrate its 50th birthday, the charity has launched the Mending Broken Hearts Appeal, one of its most ambitious projects ever. Its goal is simple – to fund the research that could begin to literally 'mend broken hearts'. With our support, it hopes to be funding trials with heart patients in as little as 5 years and save and improve the lives of millions within decades
Celtic manager Neil Lennon said: “Since 1995, Celtic Charity Fund has raised over £3.5million. Together, we can reach £4million and support charities in Scotland, Ireland and across the globe. The Sporting Dinner is a key fundraising event in our annual calendar and your input is crucial to its success. We thank you most sincerely for your continued support.”
We are exceptionally conscious of the continued challenges of the financial climate so the cost of the event has been held at the same level for the fifth year in a row - £800 for a table of ten or £80pp.

October 2012: Club Couture - The Celtic Charity Fund Fashion Show
Following the success of our events in the last 3 years, we will once again be hosting the increasing popular Club Couture Fashion Show at Celtic Park in 2012. The format includes a catwalk show featuring first team players, a charity auction and raffle, live entertainment and a fabulous 3-course meal. Winter 2012: Volunteering Overseas
Reinforcing Celtic Charity Fund’s commitment to supporting the famine relief efforts in East Africa, a magnificent 21 volunteers traveled to Kenya on Monday 31st October 2011, to spend 10 days working in local schools.
This was Celtic Charity Fund’s inaugural trip to Africa and the participants not only lent practical and emotional support in Kenya but, as ambassadors of the Fund and Celtic Football Club, also spread the word on our unique charitable roots and heritage.
The day-to-day work ranged from teaching support to cooking to laying new floors to plastering to painting, including much Celtic-inspired artistic input! One or 2 Celtic songs could also be heard on many occasions! We also got used to chants of ‘Mzungu!’, which is an affectionate term for white people. The trip culminated in a visit to Kibera Celtic FC.
The initiative obviously involved a fundraising element and the group raised an incredible total of almost £20,000 for Celtic Charity Fund.
As a result of the success of the trip, Celtic Charity Fund is now considering another overseas trip towards the end of 2012. To register your interest, contact Jane Maguire on 0141 551 4262 or email janemaguire@celticfc.co.uk
